1) Unzip it into c:\IParty
2) Go into c:\IParty\IParty\Sessions\
and double click on clients. associate this file with note pad.
Look and you will see "<your name>".
remove <yourname> and write in you nick that you want people to see.
Close it and save changes.
3) In c:\IParty\Iparty click on the Iparty icon
4) Go to file, click on open location, and type
in one of the servers found here.
5) Start Chatting!
Ipartyd is a way to set up your own IParty server.
This is how:
1) Open c:\iparty\ipartyd\sessions
2) You will see two files called Default and testtalk.
Open one and where it says "this session is accessed via "iparty://your.machine.name/default.ipl",
delete your.machine.name and write in your IP address... close it
and save. This is the new name of your server. If you keep changing the
name at the end (default.ipl) you get a different named room. So
you save as the new room name, and you can make more rooms! This is known
as a template.
3) Open c:\iparty\ipartyd\ and open ipartyd.
this will start up your server.
4) Go back and open up IParty the way i said earlier
and in the location box type in the name of your server, invite others
into your room, and chat.
Please read, especially the last part as it took me about 15 minutes how to work out how to do it.
Hardware
OK- obviously you need a microphone and speakers
to use this. That of course needs a sound card. If you don't have
one, don't bother. plus a decent computer would not go astray.
If you can't hear sounds check you speaker cables. If other cant
hear you check you mic cable. If the cables are in the right spots,
check the volume of both items are turned up and on. If it still
doesn't work, use your head and think about it!
